In the beginning the campus was based around a garden with a round pond. |
In 1956, a platform was added to the center of the pond. It was called the "Fountain of Shida" (1963 Yearbook). Also, due to the abundance of water lilies in the pond, it was also called the "Lily Pond" (1966 Yearbook). |
From 1967-1976, the platform in the center of the pond was replaced by a fountain. |
In 1976, the fountain was revamped. |
In 1977, the fountain was replaced with a bronze bust of Chiang Kai-shek; the bust was surrounded by eight fountain nozzles and the view was magnificent. There were steps in front and behind the bust for easy access. |
From 1986 to 2011, the area surrounding the bronze bust was replaced by landscape features, the fountain was not replaced. |
In 2011, the area in front of the front entrance was revamped according to the old design of the pond to become a new plaza for art and culture called the "Water Square". It was officially opened on 28 October 2011. |
