The NTNU Song was born during the founding period in 1948, to date it has already seen over 60 years of history. Back at that time, NTNU was the only teacher's college providing training for secondary education teachers. The 1st Chancellor Li Ji-gu was impressed by the university's crucial responsibility in the training of teachers and personally wrote the lyrics for the university song; he also asked the Dean of the College of Music, Hsiao Erh-hua to compose the music. The Song was announced in March 1948. |
Each of the sentences end with an "ong" sound. Not only does this help with memorization and singing, it also brings out the beauty of the words. It is a school song that appropriately reflects the spirit and symbol of NTNU. |
The foundation of the nation is education, and teaching is especially important. Learn diligently, advance integrity and maintain good health. To impart education for greatness in the future are the duties of the teachers.Help and encourage each other, do not forget your passion and dedication. Taiwan is full of greatness, return to our homeland in joy and contentment. When education brings all together, the world will be united. When education brings all together, the world will be united. |
The second line of the school song was originally "The different colleges and departments go separate ways but their roots are the same". After NTNU was converted to a university in June 1955, the original 12 colleges were extended and divided into three faculties of Education, Art and Science with 16 colleges. Due to the expanded structure, the lyrics were amended slightly to "The different faculties and colleges…". |
