謝天性 Hsieh Tien-hsing was from Nanzi, Kaohsiung. Renowned in the international sports arena he actively promoted volleyball. Born 8 February, 1933, died 27 January, 2007, at age 75.

In 1952 he was admitted to the Department of Physical Education, NTNU. After he graduated in 1956, the then President Liu Zhen and chairperson Wu Wen-zhong of the Department of Physical Education appointed him as a teaching assistant. After military service, apart from his teaching duties at the university, he was also coach of the men's volleyball team. In 1975 he went to Venezuela to become volleyball coach to their national team, He returned to NTNU in 1994 and retired in 1998.

Hsieh was a three-times national representative in volleyball, athletics, and basketball. From 1952-1956 at the National Games, he frequently placed first in the high jump and javelin and broke national records several times.

Represented Taiwan in volleyball and athletics (javelin) at the 1958 Third Asian Games and in basketball at the Rome Olympics in 1960. Was coach of the athletics team at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, chairman of the South American Volleyball Coaching Committee, committee member of the International Federation of Volleyball.
