He was appointed a professor of the Department of Arts in 1949 and retired in 1974. During his teaching career, he compiled and published a collection of his artworks. He also established a simple and clear set of instructions on teaching of painting. Such as "three main pieces, six medium pieces, nine small pieces; top heavy bottom light, distinction between left and right, if there is water there is color", "sky on one plane, building on another plane, ground on another plane". He repeated these simple and memorable instructions so that students could concentrate and understand better.
He was awarded the Golden Urn Award in the National Watercolor Competition, the Ministry of Education Award of Art and Literature, a Papal Medal and the Washington Gold Medal Award of the Sumi-e Society of America Annual Exhibition.
